About Superfast Ferries

Superfast Ferries, the youngest and fastest ferry fleet, welcomes you on board for an unforgettable traveling experience.

Superfast have one goal: to offer you services that exceed your expectations. They aim to offer what we call the Superfast Experience: a well-thought, standardized quality service which their customers can enjoy the same way throughout a modern fleet, the youngest and fastest in Europe, whether traveling between Italy and Greece, between Finland and Germany, or between Scotland and Belgium together with a quality service that ensures good value for your money.

The Superfast vision began to materialize in 1995 with the deployment of the first pair of pioneering German-built car passenger ferries Superfast I and Superfast II, on the Patras-Ancona route slashing travelling time from 36 to 20 hours and setting new standards in maritime transport between Greece and Italy.

In 1996, Superfast Ferries orders two more Superfast ferries (Superfast III and Superfast IV) at Kvaerner Masa Yards, Finland. In 1998, an order for four more Superfast ferries (Superfast V, Superfast VI, Superfast VII, Superfast VIII) is placed with Howaldtswerke AG, Germany while newly built Superfast III and Superfast IV join the Superfast Ferries fleet. A new service between Patras-Igoumenitsa and Bari in Southern Italy is inaugurated and Superfast Ferries is established as the market leader in the Adriatic Sea.

In 1999, two more ferries (Superfast IX and Superfast X) are ordered at Howaldtswerke AG, Germany, a move that creates waves in the business world. 2000 witnesses the order of yet two more ferries (Superfast XI and Superfast XII) at Flender AG, Lübeck, Germany. Superfast Ferries gains international recognition when it is selected among 42 operators in an international tender to operate a direct ferry link between Rosyth, Scotland and Continental Europe.

In 2001, ultra-modern Superfast V and Superfast VI join the Adriatic Sea services, inaugurating a new daily service between Igoumenitsa and Ancona. In the same year, the Superfast Ferries philosophy sails to the Baltic Sea. Superfast VII and Superfast VIII offer a fast, comfortable and luxurious daily service between the ports of Rostock, Germany and Hanko, Finland.

2002 brought more international openings for Superfast Ferries. For the first time, Scotland acquires a direct link to Continental Europe. The new route is operated by ultra-modern car-passenger ferries Superfast IX and Superfast X. Superfast XI joins the Adriatic Sea routes. Superfast Ferries emerges as front runner for the operation of another international route, for passenger and freight traffic, connecting the UK to The Netherlands.

In October 2002, the delivery of Superfast XII marked the conclusion of the first phase of the company’s investment programme which began in 1993 with the delivery of Superfast I and Superfast II, revolutionizing maritime transport.
